Know the goal in Ludo

Take a moment with Ludo before moving to another game. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the example below to understand a decision. Read the objective before making your first input. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Something to practise

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Keep the objective visible.

What the game asks you to do

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Keep the controls in easy reach.

The order of play

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

How to use the controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Use the control method described here for this activity. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

An example before you play

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.

Avoid this misunderstanding

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
